Nimtype ("we", "us") is a free typing-practice website. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights. By using the site you agree to the practices below.

1. What we collect

Account data (only if you sign up): a username, country, and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text — it is salted and hashed with PBKDF2.
Third-party sign-in: if you use "Continue with Google", we receive your Google account ID (subject), email address and display name from Google and store them against your Nimtype account. We do not receive or store your Google password. Google's use of your data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Scores & activity: typing test results (WPM, accuracy, duration), game results, daily check-in streaks, XP and earned badges. These are tied to your account or, for guests, stored only in your browser.
Session cookie: a single ts_session cookie (HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax) that keeps you signed in. This is strictly necessary for accounts to work.
Aggregated analytics (only if you accept): anonymous page-view counts (page path + date). No cookies, no IP address, and no personally identifying information are stored for analytics.

2. How we use it

To run the service: show your scores on the leaderboard, track streaks and progress, and keep you signed in.
To improve the site: anonymous, aggregated usage statistics.
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising profiling.

3. Legal basis (GDPR / EU users)

The session cookie and account data are processed under contractual necessity (to provide the service you requested). Analytics are processed only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by clearing site data or contacting us.

4. Data retention

Account and score data are kept until you delete your account. You can delete everything permanently at any time from the account menu ("Delete"), which removes your profile, scores, leaderboard entries, streaks and badges immediately. Aggregated analytics rows carry no personal data and may be retained indefinitely for trend purposes.

5. Your rights

Access / deletion: use the in-app "Delete" button, or email us to request export or erasure.
Withdraw consent: clear your browser's local site data for nimtype.com.
EU users may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.

Advertising cookies (only if you accept all): if Nimtype shows ads such as Google AdSense, those ads may set cookies for frequency capping and, with your consent, personalized ads. They are non-essential and load only after you choose “Accept all”. You can reject them and the site still works fully.

No other third-party tracking cookies are set.

7. Children

Nimtype is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
